When tragedies like the recent earthquake in Haiti happen, it leaves us all feeling powerless to help. But we all can help in meaningful and significant ways here at home.
There are several ways that you can be of assistance:
2. Pray daily for the people of Haiti and all the relief workers who are there to help ease the suffering.
FUMC sends 600 Health Kits to Haiti

On Saturday, January 30
th dozens of church members gathered to assemble health kits. The health kits will be sent to Haiti as part of the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) efforts in the country.
Thank you to all the volunteers who came and helped sort and assemble the health kits. Thank you to all those who donated the items for the health kits - we all can make a difference in significant ways.
Each health kit contained a hand towel, a washcloth, a comb, a nail file or fingernail clipper, a bath-size bar of soap, a toothbrush, and 6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages.
Financial Donations
If you do not wish to purchase items for the health kits, a donation of $12 would cover the cost of one health kit. Please make checks payable to FUMC with a memo notation of “Haiti Relief Effort”.
If you would like to make an online contribution, click here. Every dollar you contribute will go directly to the relief effort. First UMC will send the funds directly to the UMCOR account specifically designated for the Haitian Disaster.
The United Methodist Church is organized to provide immediate response to disasters worldwide. UMCOR (United Methodist Committee On Relief) is accepting donations to reimburse funds and supplies which are already on their way to assist those who have been devastated in Haiti.
